HEAD DENT -

COUPLA TRAX

WORDS BY LEE BARBER

24th June saw Stoke four piece HEAD DENT drop without warning the all new double A COUPLA TRAX, the live demo featuring quite literally and ironically a coupla trax. The songs themselves are exactly what we have come to expect from the no holds barred quintet; the unassuming guitar riff from Sam Taylor, ready to pounce into that sharp and heavy sound, and quickly joined by the unshakable force that is the foundation of HEAD DENT, Ollie Lewis on bass and Dan Cartlidge. The fast paced, hard hitting tune is sure to have concert goers shuffling their feet on dance floors across the country, with front man Luke Mansfield throwing out raunchy lyrics

‘Get loose get sweaty, arms moving like spaghetti.’

‘Wanna see ya move like John Travolta, wanna see the beat get hold a ya.’

For a band that is at its forefront probably one of the most entertaining live bands in the area, and being sure not to take themselves too seriously, HEAD DENT are most certainly a band that do no mess around when it comes to giving their fans value for money. It can be guaranteed that each member will leave the stage knowing they have left everything they have up there; blood sweat and tears dripping onto the stage and from the walls of a sweaty venue which has just witnessed 30 minutes of raw, unpolished, unadulterated passion and dedication. Gig goers and bar staff alike dancing along and capturing video footage of the immense scenes. COUPLA TRAX second song follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, doing a fantastic job of capturing the intense atmosphere of the bands live performance. As a venue manager to have hosted the band numerous times, I can say with absolute honesty that it has always been a ridiculous pleasure to witness the pure chaos a HEAD DENT set provides, the look of sheer joy in the faces of everyone in the crowd reminding you why you do this job. Any promoters reading this, you have been warned to book them as soon as possible.

To further confirm the previous statement, just four days after dropping COUPLA TRAX, the band powered through the Metal 2 The Masses Stoke Final to bag themselves a slot on the illustrious New Blood Stage at Bloodstock Open Air Festival this August. HEAD DENT fought off some incredible competition in the form of three time finalists Era’s End, and two time finalists 2x4, as well as Fractured Mind, Meliora and Three Sixteen.

The live show of HEAD DENT was always destined for the big outdoor stage, and we wish them the very best of luck for their appearance at Bloodstock.

If you won’t be seeing HEAD DENT at Bloodstock, be sure to catch them at Red Rum this September where they’ll be supporting Karl Phillips & The Rejects.
