BLACK COAST -

HOPELESS

WORDS BY LEE BARBER

A dark, sinister opening. An eerie atmosphere setting the tone with immediate impact. A full throttle riff hand crafted - if not destined - to feature on a movie soundtrack. Latest single Hopeless from Stoke’s finest Black Coast does not fuck about.

If you’ve been to even one metal show in Stoke over the last decade, chances are you’ve already got Black Coast on one of your playlists, or have one of their shirts or caps in your wardrobe. You’ve probably sweated it out at the Underground during one of their simply ridiculous fire sets, huge and heavy riffs and pile driver beats pounding away at your chest.

Cut the very cord, like you cut throat
Let me slip into the blackness
Where I belong

Once again returning to the locally infamous den of sound that is Lower Lane Studios, Black Coast have been rewarded with their faith in the guys’ abilities to produce another top notch track, complete with gnarly riffs, visceral lyrics, and a guitar solo ready and waiting to send pits into an enraged frenzy. Mastered by Bob Cooper, the song is really brought to life with the trusty work of Joe Beresford on visuals.

The guys recently stated they’re not really following a genre, that they’re just writing music and having fun. While there may be truth in that, there is certainly a case to be made for just how serious this band are about dropping killer tune after killer tune. Get this song on a playlist immediately.
